Common questions
I am in the trial. Are my tasks backed up?
No, and this is worth knowing up front. Nothing is backed up during the trial, so your tasks exist only on the device you made them on. If that device is lost or broken, the data goes with it. Signing in does not change that. Backup is only available once you subscribe and turn sync on.
My subscription lapsed. Did I lose anything?
No. Consten becomes read-only, but everything you made stays on your device, visible and intact, for as long as you keep the app. Nothing is hidden or deleted. Resubscribing restores editing immediately.
I resubscribed on a new phone. How do I get my history back?
This only applies if you had turned sync on before. Sign in with the same method you used before, then turn sync on, and your data is copied back down. Both steps are needed, because a fresh install starts with sync off. If your subscription lapsed, the server copy is kept for 12 months after the lapse, so doing that inside the window restores everything. You do not have to resubscribe first, because downloads keep working while uploads stay paused. After 12 months the server copy and the account are both deleted, and you start fresh with whatever is on your device.
My step task says No Health data here.
Consten reads today's total from Health on the device you are looking at. That message means Health has nothing for that measure today. It looks the same whether you declined the permission or the day is simply empty, because iOS never tells an app which one it is. An iPad with no Health data of its own always shows it.
Does my step count leave my phone?
Only if you turn on Sync health progress, which is a separate switch from sync and off until you ask for it. With it off, a task linked to Health still finishes on your other devices, and only the number stays put. Turning the switch back off also discards any reading that was queued and not yet sent.
How do I get a copy of my data?
Open Settings, then Sync, then Export Your Data. A download link is emailed to the address on your account, and the app tells you what the file holds before you ask for it. The link works for 3 days and for 3 downloads, then the file is deleted.
Why do my themes look different on my other device?
Custom background photos and your active theme are part of what syncs. Turning sync on is what starts it. Without that, each device keeps its own look.
The Apple Watch app is not showing today.
The watch takes its data from the iPhone. Open Consten on the phone once with the watch nearby and in range, then reopen it on the watch. If it is still empty, check that the watch app is installed from the Watch app on your iPhone.
My widget is stale or empty.
Widgets read the same on-device store as the app, and iOS decides how often to refresh them. Opening the app updates it. If a widget is permanently empty, remove it and add it again.
Can I hide my task names on the Lock Screen?
Yes. Settings has widget privacy controls, including hiding task names entirely while the device is locked. App Lock additionally gates the whole app behind Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.
How do I turn reminders off?
Nudges are off by default and are only ever on for tasks you explicitly enable them for. Turn one off in the task editor, or switch the whole feature off in Settings.
How do I delete my data or my account?
Settings has two separate options. Delete Tasks and Preferences removes the server copy and keeps your account and subscription. Delete Account removes the account itself. Neither touches your device. If you have already uninstalled, email me and I will handle it.
